2017年7月5日，欧盟发布(EU) 2017/1201法规，拒绝短链低聚果糖（Short-chain fructooligosaccharides from sucrose）能够维持正常的肠道规律的健康声称。依据(EC)1924/2006（关于食品的健康声称）的相关规定，申请者提交短链低聚果糖能够维持或有助于正常的肠道规律，欧盟经过一些列评估后，认为二者之间的因果关系尚不明确，因此拒绝授权。
